Hi everyone!
Ive been making music again. this time ive gone for a dark/progressive house style with some trancey elements (but no supersaws). the idea was to make a dancefloor track, and ive used a few new techniques including sidechain compression, automating filter lfo's and pitchbending using madshifta. in my oh so humble opinion this is the best track ive done but would love some feedback to make sure im not just being big headed.

my good buddy franklin is going to do some proper mastering of this track, but in the meantime this one is "mastered" by me.
cheers

Hmm, well what can I say in addition to what I said already... Hmm... I love soft drums, so this STILL hits the spot. Even the drums alone make me listen to this. Hmmhmm, the vocal sample seems to me a bit out of place. I mean, I can't actually think why it's there. Side-chaining sounds nice and filter automation usually rocks when well-used... The only thing I dislike are those rising and falling, ehm, thingies... |

thanks ravana.
the vocal is there to give the track a signature, and also because i was playing with vocoders. the rising and falling, did you mean the pitch shifting of the pad or the automation of the filter lfos? i did both of those to do something different, i quite like it, but its definately easy to dislike also
thanks again for your comments.

Yep a good track, definetly danceable. Sounds a bit overcompressed at times though. When the kick plays with just a pad for instance there is a distinct pumping sound. Maybe intentional, but since the pad when it plays alone doesn't pump it sounds wrong... |

1st listen:
I'm at 3:55 and thinking "I'd like a radio edit". Seems like I'm waiting for the best to come all the time but it just doesn't happen (I guess it's just "good" all the time). Especially when the distorted sound came in there was a wish from me that there'd be some more melody with them. The biggest "payoff" came at about 6:30, and even though its quite lenghty I wanted more. But I guess if it's supposed to be a dancetrack you're not supposed to hunt melodies, eh?
2nd listen:
Yup, too long intro. That distortion sound is probably the coolest thing in the song. I see some very toothy automation before my eyes in huge speeds. Interesting sound indeed. First break is too short, and I wish the tune revolved around that instead (which would make it a chiptune hehe).
There's a nice "pressed for time" atmosphere in here that would work for an exciting part in a movie where I picture some scientists working under pressure to come up with something while evil is racing to the lab to destroy them... Oh my, what an imagination.
Else, what can I say, great production as I've come to expect from you, it was quite funny to see how you made normal one-hit samples flow so nice and then break them up so it sounded like it was a loop that diiiiiiidn't quite just make it around the whole 4 beat.
Good job, make me a chippie-ish tune now! |

I like the first break a lot at 1:55 something like that.
Drum Arrangement very nice to me...Melodies and used intruments excellent as usual.
The Part at 04:00 is very good too.....makes a great athmosphere!
Iīm at 06:00 now....very good re-entering of the main theme!
The drum arrangement a few secs later is awesome!
Very good job....canīt say whether itīs one of your best cause I like all your tracks so far and this one too.
