Well, the drums are a bit lacking, they should have been multisampled. Also the recording is lacking the pro-sound.
But it's cool as hell. The main riff is a bit James Bond-ish but heavier. I like. |

Thanks Frazze.
The drums are multi-sampled; I'll try some other samples and see what happens. As for the 'lacking the pro-sound', could you please elaborate, is it eq'ing or something in the like? |

Hmm what... Some proggressive rock/metal or something. I don't quite see anything major off in the recording quality. The "pro-sound" for me anyways is not some goal everyone should aim for.
Realism probably isn't what you're after in this one. The drums are okay, I would like more audible cymbals though. The snare is thrash-like, not bad. Kick sounds okay with guitars but by itself doesn't do it for me. There are good moments in the arrangement, but all in all it's maybe too proggressive for me. And minimalistic (which is not a bad thing necessarely). |

Yeah! I Like this progressive style Feels like there's not enough punch though, I'd like a heavier bass! One that makes you wanna headbang real hard! |

Ok, changed the kick, reworked the cymbals / high hats, not sure what to do with the snare, and added a few tom's. I would like to do realism for the drums, but that is about as realistic as getting a virtual guitar to sound like a guitar. I could be wrong, is there a good vst drum anyone uses or one you all would recommend for this style of music? |

I think the reverb and the lack of fq spread makes it sound a bit like it was recorded in a box. The whole things sounds better now with the changes. |

Bigandymac thanks.
they are sampled, I used a samick guitar body (not sure who manufactured it) with the pickup used in the oscarschmidt made by washburn. erm basically I used a guitar that I pieced together from another guitar, both were cheap and I broke both and combined them to get what I got now. heh, I'm even using steal acoustic strings for a 12 string acoustic guitar. lastly I use the Death metal distortion made by DOD and record directly from that to my pc. All in all I say it cost me around $350 for both guitars and pedal. |

You dont need a real drummer.
Maybe just the right drum samples and some effects or whatever. |

I think it's best to listen to some music with a real drummer and listen to how it sounds. Then just try to imitate it. Play with timings, pitches and velocities. Use panning on the drums. For example make the toms roll from left to right or right to left, whichever viewpoint you want to use. When I try to imitate real drums I think how the drums are positioned in the set and pan them accordingly. Good samples go just as far as to making the sounds realistic. |

Get FXpansion's BFD. I purchased it a couple of months ago and I couldn't be happier.

DFH, Drums from hell, is the best drum VST, over like 70000 of diffrent drums, sampled diffrent and god knows. it rocks^^ costs quite a bit though! and uses up about 40gig of your harddrive |
