How do you guys start off when making a new song?

I just can't seem to think of any good melodies. How do you guys think of them?

well I just start of with a beat, some percussions, build up to a breakdown at around 1 minute, then introduce melodies. Dont try to force, let it come naturally!

First a quick beat placeholder (like a bassdrum or so), then bassline, lead, better drums, then harmonies. Lastly making everything better than it was at first, improving all parts.

i start with the ambient, most abstract sounds i can. then build from there, however before i start on the vocals and or leads i through on the percussion variances first then the main beat.

With me it's kinda random, sometimes melodies, sometimes chords... If i really can't come up with a melody i make a beat first, or try a different key.
