I love it (like most of your tracks ^^ ).
The chip sounds remind me a cool amiga video game I can't remember the name... Any idea, anyone ?
I wish I could get such a "clean" track. (this is also the same for most of the tracks posted here, you guys rock <3 ). Mine always sound noisy, mostly because I can't find the samples I need.
Anyway, good job soul eyes |

Most of my tunes remind people of old games! I even say that on my homepage... hehe!
This track in particular should remind you of the theme from Rocky though, and not a game....
The key to getting a clean sound is using clean samples. Your average chiptune uses only ultra-clean sine, square and triangle waves, making it easy to make it clean.
Else it's more work, with bandwidth limiters and such...
Take care!
;D

Well, actually I don't usually work with chip sounds, even though I like "chip musics". ( Chip metal rocks )
The thing is that my electronic leads often sound...well, a bit noisy and "dark", and for this reason, even when I start with a happy party tune I think about, I finally surpise myself tracking some obscure-dark-(yet-quite-cool ?)-electronic-power metal music or something (it may be not the official description ). My attempts not to eventually fall in this undergound areas were a bit poor and boring (my only clean sounds are some drums and a piano - trinity piano. Even the violin sometimes sounds weird )
The best example is the track I'm currently working on. (that would be my fifth I think).
I definitely like it (in two words : my best, which doesn't mean much), but it definitely isn't what I wanted first. Maybe I'll post it in some days, but that's not the point.
The point is : I often use VST plugins, and mostly Superwave P8 - if you know it. Do you know where I could find other efficient electronic leads instruments - which are not bass samples ?
More generally, where do you all find your fine samples ? I mean, yes I suck, but most of the tracks I hear here have soft and cleand and fluent melodies I just can't make with my instruments of fear. |

To be quite frank, you can go illegal and download vsts from p2p networks. But there are also myriads of free good stuff (synth1 that came with madtracker is good for leads) if you google for them.
If your brain wants you to make dark tracks - then do so! Make the evilest darkest coolest tracks known! You'll excel at that. My mind tells constantly "be happy! have fun! put on a smile! make someone else smile! lets jump up and down in an energetic frenzy!" and after a couple of years resisting I've just let go and let myself be a tool of my divine inspiration. I'm not writing the music anymore, I just stop and listen to what my brain is singing to me. Only trouble is tracking that awesomeness in my brain. |
