Basically, I am not doing any progress at all on composing music nowadays, and I am so totally out of inspiration when I actually COULD sit down and compose.
It is just that I feel so stressed about it... "Oh, now the family sleeps, lets compose!" - And instead, I log on to the computer and visit different forums and use 2-3 hours typing messages instead...
Am I just pure lazy, or what is wrong? Is it that I find my 2,5GHz PC just not capable of running all the effects I want to squize through the CPU? Is it because I don't have a sexy girl besides me which can actually sing to my work? ...
I think I need to start some sort of a music band, get a day regulary in the week we meet. A awesome guitarist, a nice vocal lead, and start getting inspiration back...
Anyone feel something of the same? Got the cure? Tell me about it!
/M - going to bed... not done much else than listening to mp3s of different others. |

you'll be suprised what a nice glass of wine or something will do !
You can also overdo that with loads of beer, but that will generate other, though pretty funny, effects...

My biggest problem is time... I am thirty one years old, got a family, a kid. My everyday consist of getting the kid to daycare, work for 8 hours, drag my ass to the gym and workout for 1-2 hour, collect the kid, do dinner, play with him (he is 3 years old - demands a LOT of attention!), get him to sleep, do the dishes, cleaning the cloths, get ready for next day and clean up all toys spread all over the house... Well, basically, at 23:00 I am all finished with that, and excausted. Give me a glas of wine, and I would be sleeping before you could even start spelling the word compose.
Well, I guess composing is somewhat of a lifestyle. Either you screw your family, and egocentric just locks the door to the musicstudio and stays in it until 4am... What I did when I was living home as a teenager without much responsibilites... Those times are gone, really. And I just ain't the type of father that wants to not take part of my kid upgrowning.
Well, I guess we all are in different stages of life. But sure, I miss sitting down a whole weekend and just compose! Anyone has any good tips on how to get a pregnant wife+kid out of the house?

Yeah. Knob another one and tell her. Should do the trick. |

You're a looking glass to me, even if i haven't any son or daugther.
Instead of mourn the things as they are now, try to appreciate them more.
Inspiration should grow quickly, and you will not need 3 hours anymore to make a pattern |

Hehe... I use 15minutes on making 2 patterns, then I use 8 hours trying to fix the details in those two patterns until I get sick of it and just lay it down...
Anyway, I'll try to take time of from work a day and really put 8hours on completting a tune to the Compo. I wanna be in it, even tho my entry will surely suck.

Perhaps some one-hour-compos could do the trick for all lazy composers like us? |

Same problem here I have thousand other things in my head. Finding the right job, writing applications. I cant get my head free and so I can only experiment if I find some free time. But nothing serious. |

agreed....
i find when i need inspiration or cant write.
rip off your editing hand. let the creative hand take over. done edit, go back, nothing, just make the most horrible shit and go with it. also try to break away from what you're used to...
also picking up an instrument always helps.
but try something new and keep going with it. dont fix anything until you have worked on it for a couple hours. edit for 10 mins and force yourself to write stuff again. even if it sounds REALLY bad. just keep rolling with the punches.
ttyl. |

Finally!
Great x-mas presents to my wife ensured happiness, and I managed to sneak away, lock the door(!), and just focus for 20hours tracking to complete the compo song!
/Me is happy! All beware of my terrible Turkey singing! |
