I have to look that up, since my classmates have the data
Anyway, I just yesterday had a lesson about samplerates and stuff, and as a result I need to correct some of the things I said.
Working at a higher samplerate is better in a way. If you for example record something in lets say 44.1 the AD converter filters the signal at 22.05 which can cause audable anomaly's in the sound ( in theory we can hear up to 20khz ) but if you record on 96Khz then the AD will start filtering at half that rate ( 48Khz ) leaving the anomaly's at a frequency we can't possibly hear.
Same go's for proccessing ( Eq's , Comperession ). They all leave anomaly's and by increasing the samplerate you get those things 'out of the way'.
But, it's not perfect for example if you apply a lowpass filter around 40 HZ or do some other EQ in the lower freq's using a higher samplerate will sometimes result in strange behavior in the bass. This is because the filter algorithm needs to calculate more data and some plugin developers don't take this into account. |
