Right... Two little things to share...

First, a cheesy trance track called smackdab that sounds just like any other trance track that you will forget about before you even finished listening; http://tinyurl.com/hdb98 (headphones recommended, sounds totally different in my speakers, especially the kick. Oh well who cares, its a stupid trance track anyway), and second, a little more feely stringbased creation that I've dubbed isolation: http://tinyurl.com/j749j .. This track is aaaaalmost finished, I think I hear some out of tune bass notes that need fixing, before putting this one on my homepage.

Plugins make it stupidly easy to make trance tracks like smackdab... I felt like I was cheating. I feel dirty. Now I have a record of trance. Inge is going to kill me. *Eats a geisha bar*

its really easy to make trance with midi presets in z3ta Smile still not a half bad effort.
and it is easy to make trance, but its hard to make good trance (i wish i could get it right).

the 2nd track i really like. its got a really good mood. i think it would sound loads better if they were real/sampled strings rather than a vst (they sound phasered?). i think a few classical composers would be jealous of the mood you set with those chords. i know youll prob say no, but could i make a trance version of it? (thats absolute sacrilege asking that i know but i would love to have a go if i could).

anyway nice work (esp the 2nd track).

cheers

andy

Could be. I just took a preset. I didn't phase them intentionally.

Haha! Franklin has already asked me if he could do that, and I said yes, so you can as well! You'll need some plugins for it but my guess is you have them all already. I don't hate trance, I just don't listen to it other than when a tracker release something.

Drop me a mail or add me on msn: souleye at comhem dot se

In this case, impressive plugin-presets cannot mask the fact that you would make (and currently are!) a horrible trance producer Wink

@first track: too much compression it seems, sound is pumping way too much. Other than that, cheesy, and to be honest, low quality trance.

@second track: I almost expected a cheesy schlager beat to drop in at any moment because of the bell(ish) instrument playing sad melodies. The title works. In other words the track does give some hint at the feeling of isolation, but I think the background pads are a bit too obtrusive to give a real sense of isolation. Also, they go on and on all the time with their flanging, and the track in general gets tiresome to listen to partly because of this.

Overall, I'm thinking you've done better Wink

I went nuts! I didn't really try to produce good trance, I just slapped in a few presets and added two compressors to get a stupid amount of compression creating a bubbling sound. This song was made very fast, and I guess it shows. It's not going to be my be-all end-all showcase tune, I was basically just trying out some plugins... Fun to see that so many people reacted to it though! Smile

But sure: anybody wanting to remix the isolation tune are welcome to do so.

Trance Track:

Well I have heard worse Razz.
I mean...as a matter of fact that u actually donīt do trance music, it didnt sound like shit to me.
Well...I think better than the tracks I made before I started making Hip Hop. I used to make trance music too...well before the Vst Plugins came out for MT...maybe Imma upload some of them.
The other Track: I like it....nice arrangement and nice melodies for sure. Very chilly....I like listening to it, even it sounds a bit...uhhm....unmastered?

But good work though!

edit:

Frank! Your Remix roxX!
