Song 1: lol, very nice idea... sounds like an amok-run wild massacre... Should be overlayed with some tough gangsta-rap... same problem here:
+ pretty well mastered, sounds very clear and nice
- ( ) too repetitive...
Song 2:
+ pretty well mastered, sounds very clear and nice
- ( ) too repetitive...
i know, its your personal taste of music, but the lack of variation screws it up imo. arrangement + mastering is very good. but what about some nice melodies and variations in bassline?
if you like that style, its perfect, if not, its good but too monotone... |

Thanks for commenting again Amok... I have to disagree with one comment tho - I thought song 2 was far from repetitive. I started it with a basic beat, then sped up everything and added strings, and then introduced the chorus which was fast moving and different from the basic beat. I could agree with number 1 being repetitive, but really its just this genre. The minds of everyone on here are more complex in music than mine, haha. You guys deal with techno/house music which has constant change and variation, while the hip hop genre tends to cling onto a certain pattern/beat throughout the song. Some of the hottest rap songs to come out recently were the epitome of repetitiveness - "This is why Im hot - MIMS"; "Its Goin Down - Young Joc"; "Thats That - Snoop Dogg"; "Rock Yo Hips - Crime Mob"; etc. If you aren't familiar with any of those, youtube them and listen to see what Im talking about... But as always, I do appreciate the feedback.
I wish these songs were mastered, haha. My "mastering" consists of setting the highs to 8.0, the mids to 6.0 and the lows to 2.0. I found those settings through constant trial and error - putting a CD in my car system and seeing how it sounds - so I've gone through a few wasted CDs |

Dont get me wrong, please. I like the way you arrange and master your tracks. i wish, i could create songs of that quality.
But i think im a oldskool melodic man... sorry
imo a really good song needs variations in melodies and basslines. maybe your style is just not my cup of tea. and probably my songs not your cup of tea. Thats the thing.
i really like your style, but i need some melodies to fall in love with a track. im sure, youŽll make your way |

Haha, okay I hear ya. Different ears and tastes - thats all. I dont dislike the two songs that I heard from you either - the one for your girlfriend and "Who Knows" - just different styles of music... And I KNOW that you could create songs that are of good quality - Im not doing anything special. I don't know the first thing about mastering! To make your track clear, just set the master high at 8.0 the master mid at 6.0 and the master low at 2.0. I also set my master volume at about 80% so that nothing comes out too loud resulting in "speaker blast". That is all I do man, haha. That is my extent of mastering... I could point you to where I get my high quality instruments for free (stuff that would normally cost $400+), but I fear if too many people know about the site, someone is bound to tattle, haha. I haven't paid for a single instrument. Okay, let me shut up now... |
