When the bassdrum is alone I think it feels like it's a little too... straight on. I don't know how to express myself here Razz However when the breakbeat starts and the song "starts" it feels right. Smile

Overall I think it's a nice track, even though I'm not really much for trance. Very Happy

The main theme is very interesting, but the trance part (beats and bassline) are less nice. Have you ever considered stepping into IDM? This track would work massively if produced in the tradition of Ochre or any other Toytronic-artist. They also use these laidback trancy elements, but then with wicked beat programming and amazing eye for little details. http://www.discogs.com/release/328705 should be your best friend from now on.

Is it just me, or are you a bit influenced by my "isolation" in this tune? I think the chord progression is a little similar at times Smile

thanks everyone.

styrman - i mixed the whole thing on headphones (i broke my amp) which will explain the dodgy balancing.
inge - thanks for the tip. i was experimenting with sidechain compression to control the bassline so ive definately not got it right yet. ill def check out the toytronic stuff. i like more "mainstream" idm (if there is such a thing), like autechre, squarepusher, aphex twin, and i recently got hold of the boards of canada albums (on your recommendation, which was a great tip btw).
souleye - if the chords sound similar it was a subconscious thing. but its very possible i was influenced by the sound of isolation (it is a great tune after all). im working on that remix today btw.

thanks for the comments.

I like the tune as background music for when I'm gaming.. Had it on repeat a couple of hours and it hasn't begun to annoy me at all Smile

Trust me: The Everything Is Green-compilation is way more mainstream than Autechre, Squarepusher or Aphex Twin could ever pull off together (not that they would want to anyway, for that matter).

Wait till you hear Gimmik, Ochre or Num Num, and you'll exactly know what I mean. No, even more adventurous: you'll love this cd from the very first second and hear immediately why I recommended it especially to you. Really.
