Hi all,

as you can probably tell ive written another trance track and thought i would share it with you.

www.am-1.co.uk/tracks/AM-1_Trance_Position.mp3

im really happy with the melodies and chords in this, i tried something a little different this time round, ive still got to do mixing properly and "master" it but its essentially complete.

happy listening

andy

it sounds great... but there isnt so much variation thats my problem a bit Sad

it does sound quite tiestoey. the distorted lead sound is really cool, i tried to develop on that theme.
glad you like the track, it is a bit repetitive, but its designed for a dancefloor rather than listening at home, hence the transitions in it being more "epic" than usual.

cheers

Same old show concerning my feedback, but I again like it and I again don't know how it matches up against other trance tracks, since I'm unaware how this scene currently sounds. I love the way the different warm synths blend into each other, the beat programming is gorgeous as always, the production is top notch, and the melodies are appealing. There's also again this problem of lack of identity, although you use some sounds which are rather new to me (the gated string with little distortion that is dubbed over the saw synth), which helps a lot. It would have been nice if this gated string was less predictable. Maybe you want to try to double the pattern speed and play around with very fast melodic gating for some more excitement?

The overall drive is marvellous. You wouldn't see me dance on this (unless a little bit drunk, then I might do), but it would make me head nod while in the car.

g3ronimo - check out www.frecklelife.com there are 3 of my ambient tracks on there. im actually working on a couple at the moment. i promise ill post them on here so you can have a listen.

thanks for the great feedback inge. im really happy with this track, the melodies i think are quite compelling and get me nodding my head also.

ive originality is difficult to get in trance. in this track i went for a distorted lead, although it turns out tiesto does that. so i tried putting significant swing in it, making the main melody as unique as possible, and sticking those extra bars at the end of patterns to break it all up. i suppose as i get better at producing ill deviate from the norm and put in more of my own ideas (its happening more and more). anyway, thats enough ruminating for now.

thanks again to everyone for commenting.

about the lead.. many others allready did this..(ferry corsten, signum etc) even myself..
allmost everything is allready done and that's a fact imho.

but i like this track very much. are u using loops btw? it sounds like that the beat is built up out of loops. except for the kick and maybe the clap...

i would use some more effects to blend parts over...
the melody is good.. do you know vincent de moor? (my hero Very Happy)

I've accidently been listening your tune over and over again. It's a good thing that I know nothing about the current state of affairs in trance, so that all this is somewhat new for me. I love the melodies and, oh well, even the transposition. But if Xiphiuz is right, then originality will be a big threat towards your track(s). Nevertheless: thanks a lot for this tune!

"accidentally" eh inge? you can admit you love trance you know, its not a crime Wink thanks for the feedback, i got all excited when i wrote the melodies so its good to know others like them.
xiphiuz - the percussion is made of single hits, i made 3 separate loops in a different mt2 (trance perc sounds weird with swing on) then used the loops in this track. to get that sound i boosted the high frequencies and cutoff all the mid and low freqs and compressed it hard (using c3 multiband compressor, radio 1 is a good preset to start on for this).

vincent de moor is great, i havent heard anything from him for a long time though.
im working on the track now, putting a bigger kick in and adding some transition effects.
all i need to do now is find some originality.

cheers

andy

Great track. I'm not a real dance/trance expert, but this sounds pretty cool. I guess it's a little outdated to the trance/dance at disco's I hear nowadays. Dance today is more simplistic, with a game like repetetive tune that goes on and on and on. I recently heard a Lingo (it's a tv show here in The Netherlands) theme song remix and everyone was like 'Yeah this sounds GREAT'. You have to know that these are extremely simple notes that sound very game like.

Well... That's basicly how the trance/dance scene is nowadays, atleast how I experience it when I go out. Unfortunately I don't have many names, because I only hear them when I go to a disco. Hehe.

Anyway great stuff, keep 'm coming! Very Happy
