 |
Hey all,
*Hope I've posted in right forum*
I actually have a problem with my (first ) composition using madtracker : I just don't know where to put it... (is this spiritual easy listening music, mood music,... ?)
Here's mp3 version,
http://media.putfile.com/No-name-MadTracker
Could you tell me what kind of music this is, please ?
Then, I'd really appreciate if you let me your feeling about this track, I just tried to make it pleasant, without any intention to deal with the greatest authors (some tracks i've heard are really impressive (Frazze's, PyroZane's, and other's) )
Bye, thanks for your help and/or future advice |

Doesn't work here either. A download link is preferred. |

I just get a blank page. I can't be arsed to turn off my ad-killers.
You're better off posting links using www.yousendit.com if you want some feedback |

Well, I can listen to it at least
Right now it sounds some sort of reverbed general midi music. Maybe that's no genre though. Let me think..

Dunno what genre to put this in, some sort of happy easy listening ...
I think you've got the musical thinking in your mind already, now you only need to make it more structured. On sequencing side I would like to have some drums or other rhythm instruments. On the mixing side you might need to lower the use of reverb..
Keep it up!

Thanks for future feedbacks If it really sucks, tell me why please
Edit : Didn't see your second post c-frog, thanks for your comment, I'll try to add some drums now
About the reverbs : Actually, that's the sample I use which is like this, but I understand what you mean, I'll try to make something about this.
Edit2 : The "second end" is actually there beacause I didn't know to include it in first part, forget it, it isn't a real part of the song |

Awww... Christmas came early. And generally whatever reminds me of Christmas is probably way too happy for my tastes, as is this piece. I agree with the reverb-issue. The sample to me sounds like it is looped so you might get away by just disabling the loop or editing the volume envelope of the instrument so that it fades out quicker.
About the drums I disagree, I don't see anything that would quite fit in here. All you miss is just jingle bells. Hmm, well maybe some quite-well-in-the-background-drums would do the trick. |

Thanks for your comment Ravana.
Yes, the sample is looped, I'll try to fix the reverb issue.
Thank you all to point out to me these problems. |

I'm sorry, but right now it's not pleasant listening, it's too hectic. The high pitch of the whole song is part of the reason for that, I think. I'd shift everything down at least one octave. The reverb is too long, that's true. If it's because of a loop in the sample, then you can simply make a shorter decay in the instrument in MadTracker by using a volume envelope. The second coming (after a pause pretty close to the end) feels a bit uneseccary, I'd cut that completely.
You wouldn't land very high in the compo rankings with this track, but hey, it's a start |

Lol, don't be sorry because of your feelings, that's my first track and I know I've lots of things to learn (the idea of using VST effects and instruments still terrify me) The more advice you give me and problems you point out, the more I'll be able to change it
Actually, I'm not really satisfied with the very beginning, and I think I'll change it. One octave down ? Why not, I'll see that.
The second coming is here because I didn't know where to put it. It's not a real part of the track, but I let it for the moment, until I really finish the music.
"You wouldn't land very high in the compo rankings with this track, but hey, it's a start "
Don't worry, I wasn't thinking about taking part in a future Compo. First I'd like to make finish this track and make it more pleasant (just pleasant, that's all what I want ) and then I may try to use VST plugins to make another track, a bit more serious this time. |

"I think you should get yourself less "midi" like samples"
I'm sorry, but can you explain me this sentence ? What does 'midi' really mean ?
To answer my first question, I can put it (well, when it's finished) in easy listening ? Is a mood music supposed to be a bit sad or melancholic ? Then, is it supposed to create a particular atmosphere or is it an equivalent of "background music" ?
Thanks |

MIDI = Musical Instrument Digital Interface
It's a way for computers, synths and other stuff to communicate music between eachother.
What he probably means here is that... Every sound card comes with some samples on it: some default and generally crappy sounds. These can be accessed by madtracker and often downloaded here and there as soundbanks... They are dry, stale, and uninteresting to listen to. |
